SWEET ORANGE
Citrus sinensis
Oranges were first cultivated in China around 2,500 BC. The Sweet Orange variety arrived in Europe in the 16th century via Portuguese explorers. The fruit was quickly deemed a luxury for the upper class. In the early 1900's, orange oil was used as a form of perfume in the Middle-East and across Europe.
Sweet Orange is still commonly grown in China and India. Essential oil is extracted from the rinds by cold-pressing.
Orange oil is commonly used in aromatherapy. This "happy oil" brings rich and comforting aroma that helps with alleviating anxiety and depression, as well as soothing headaches. It is also an excellent travel companion as it can be used as a natural insect repellent.
Diffusing Sweet Orange can help bring refreshing scent to the room and uplift the mood.
